Whirlpool Dryer Drum Support Repair

Dryer lint has a talent for hiding in places the lint screen cannot reach. On this Whirlpool electric dryer project, we replaced the drum support and used the open cabinet as an opportunity to give the appliance a thorough deep cleaning.

Taking the dryer apart

We removed the front panel and lifted the drum out of the cabinet. That opened the area around the drum support and gave us room to reach the lint and debris that had collected below the drum.

Replacing the support and clearing the cabinet

With the drum out of the way, we replaced the support and vacuumed the exposed interior. Cleaning while the dryer was already open made sense because it let us reach areas that are normally sealed behind the panels.

Reassembly and the finishing touches

We returned the drum to the cabinet, refitted the panels and secured the top. We also vacuumed the removable lint screen before wrapping up the project.
